I bought this as a gift & I was really surprised how extremely hot these cups get! I looked thru reviews & didn't see anyone else commenting this & I'm shocked bc they get as hot as whatever liquid that u put in. Yes, I know not to fill it up to the brim but it was still very uncomfortable to hold onto. For me to find anyone mentioning how very hot these cups get, I had to filter the reviews to find anything said. I'm saddened as I really loved the look & feel of the set! I loved the material it's made of & the kettle itself is really great so for that I'm giving a couple stars but these cups can't be used as intended so what's the point in having the set. I'm actually buying another set up cups now & I made sure they said they were comfortable to hold with hot liquids in them. Plus the tray is cheap feeling & anything set on it could very easily slide right off if u tried carrying it anywhere. Too bad... really beautiful.

I'm happy with the quality of this tea set. The finish is very nice, inside and out. The filter holds plenty of tea and allows room for expansion. I like the size and shape of the cups, and the way they feel in my hand. The teapot is weighted well and pour nicely without feeling like the lid is going to fall off. I think I would prefer a wood or bamboo tray, but I knew this one was plastic when I selected it, and it's nice quality for what it is. The one issue I have with the set is that the teapot only holds about 20 ounces of liquid (and some of that gets soaked up in the tea.) The cups hold just over 4 ounces comfortably, so I can only fill 4 cups per steeping. I just look at it as a set for 4 with two extra cups, but if I was really looking for a set for 6, I would have been disappointed.
